3D modeling is used for creation of virtual objects. These objects can be used in CGI animations or computer artwork.
There are many different 3d modeling techniques to create various styles and all kinds of models. For hard body models (not flexible), basic geometric forms are aligned for creation. For soft bodies, for example characters, the 3D modeling is done via subpatching. Points are created, these are connected to polygons. The body appears very edgy, as only a few polygons form the body. Via subpatching the polygons are multiplied and by that the edges are rounded. The hardness of the edges can also be changed.
Guides for 3D modeling can be found in the "TUTORIAL" section of dOUGh-CGI.
